2012 Awards and Honors  



      Wanda Hamilton, DTR, was the recipient of the 2012 East Seals Goodwill Industries Community Partnership Award. Hamilton, a 4-H Urban Program Coordinator for the Cooperative Extension System, has been the Family Learning Center’s (FLC) longest standing community partner. She approached FLC in early 2007 to work on a national grant project with her 4-H program and has since provided endless resources to staff, students and families. Wanda’s programs have allowed the FLC to create long lasting student 4-H Clubs and family engagement activities. Students have participated in a variety of activities promoting better health, wellness, and nutrition.



     Congratulations to Rineicha O. on her graduation with a Bachelor's of Science Degree from UCONN College of Agriculture and Natural Resoures in Nutritional Sciences. She was one of our own 4-H SYNEP youth leaders who started as a teen with our youth nutrition programs, eventually became a supervisor for SYNEP and 4-H FANs who moved her way up to become a supervisor. Congratulations Rinecha for a job well done! 



     Ms. Umekia R. Taylor, MS, RD, CD-N, Associate Educator in Res/EFNEP Supervisor, was the recipient of the 2012 University of Connecticut, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Award of Excellence for Outreach in recognition of her envision, creation and execution of high-quality programs focusing on health, nutrition, fitness and social media in New Haven County. Ms. Taylor is featured in this photo with Dr. Gregory J. Weidemann, UCONN CANR Dean and Director and Ms. Bonnie E. Burr, Assistant Director, Cooperative Extension System.
